Rockets; The Future of Flight Beyond the Stratosphereby Willey LeyViking, 1944, hardbound with dust jacketCiancone #136aFirst edition of Ley’s 3 decade history of rocketry and spaceflight. Originally published in May of 1944 going through three printings with the last printing containing additional material. By 1947, the book was retitled "Rockets and Space Travel" and went through two printings, the latter with additional material. In June of 1951, Viking Press published a new edition under the title of "Rockets, Missiles, and Space Travel". The title went through six printings to 1954, including a fourth with additional material in May of 1952. A revised edition by the same title was published in 1957. Between the two editions, there were 20 printings before the book was republished in 1968 as "Rockets, Missiles, and Men in Space.Check availability |
