"Flight Test of a Little Joe Boosted Full-Scale Spacecraft Model
and Escape System for Project Mercury" NASA TM X-629
Originally a CONFIDENTIAL secret report--declassified in 1967.
A May 1962 report on the third flight test of the Little Joe
program, December 4, 1959. Little Joe involved the launch of a
Mercury spacecraft for the purpose of studying the operation of the
spacecraft escape system under low dynamic loads and high Mach
number. The crew for the flight was a small Rhesus monkey (Sam)
which was recovered successfully. Technical in nature, a number of
charts, graphs and B&W photos. A fascinating report. Stapled, 53pp,
illustrated.
